I've recently been revisiting some topics around Kubernetes scaling, scheduling, bin-packing, and resource utilization, looking for fresh perspectives and ideas.

One of my favorite ways to approach this is simply to go through conference recordings and see what other people have been working on, what problems they've encountered, and how they've approached solving them.

I genuinely believe that almost every conference talk has at least one interesting thing to learn from. Even when the title doesn't sound particularly promising, or the subject seems only loosely related to what I'm currently working on. Happens that the "something worth taking away" is completely unrelated to the original topic!

So, here's my current watchlist, mostly gathered from KubeCon talks over the last few years:

The Node Tetris Rabbit Hole: Why Your Binpacking Might Be Underperforming — Hannah Taub, Adobe

Bloomberg's Journey to Improve Resource Utilization in a Multi-Cluster Platform — Yao Weng & Leon Zhou

Scale Smarter, Not Harder: How Extending Cluster Autoscaler Saves Mi... — Rahul Rangith & Ben Hinthorne

Managing Netflix's Compute Infrastructure With Kubernetes and Dynamic Capacity Management

The Day We Delete(d) Production — Ricardo Rocha & Spyridon Trigazis, CERN

Scaling K8s Nodes Without Breaking the Bank or Your Sanity — Brandon Wagner & Nick Tran, Amazon

Taming the Beast: Advanced Resource Management With Kubernetes — Lucy Sweet & Dawn Chen

Unlocking How to Efficiently, Flexibly, Manage and Schedule Seven AI Chi... — Xiao Zhang & Mengxuan Li

This isn't a curated list of the best talks, nor necessarily a list of recommendations - I haven't watched all of them yet. It's simply what I've collected to watch while digging further into these subjects.

Hopefully, you'll find something interesting here too.

Enjoy!
